The iPhone 4 Arrives

I went to AT&T earlier to take a look at the new iPhone 4. Here are a few thoughts:

1) The hardware is great. It feels very solid, polished, and well-designed.

2) The screen is beautiful. The new Retina Display delivers, but after using a 4.3 inch screen on the EVO for a while it felt a bit small.

3) It's fast. Everything was very responsive and fast while moving through the interface.

4) The multitasking is smooth and seems to operate quite well. This has been long overdue on the iPhone.

This looks like a great smartphone if you want something easy to use and don't mind being locked into the Apple's closed ecosystem.

If you are hoping to get one, you might have to wait awhile. AT&T stores do not have units to sell until the 29th. Best Buy does not even have one on display yet. Ordering online from AT&T or Apple directly might not be much help either. The Apple website currently reports a ship date of sometime before July 14 for new orders.
